A recent aquisition was a new Smart Café Cafetiere Mug, designed by Sebastian Conran.  They work as an all-in-one cafetiere, a mug with a built in plunger. Which means that making coffee wherever you want can be done with 1 less piece of equipment.

It works very well, producing a good cup of coffee and the seals are very tight, ensuring that no coffee gets through. Simply put in the ground coffee, add water, push down the plunger and then drink.

The cups are also insulated, keeping the coffee warm, and they are available in a number of funky and not-so-funky colours.

Given the choice, I’d prefer to use a separate cafetiere and drink from a non-plastic cup. For workplaces and making coffee at home (where I’m the only drinker) it’s a very practical solution.
