Janet Street Porter on Blogging
Iain Dale has written a piece covering Peter Preston’s view of Blogging, which I agree with, and further, Janet Street-Porter’s view of blogging. To quote from Iain:-
She devotes her column in the Independent on Sunday to sneering down her ample nose at the whole concept of blogging. She reckons "blogs are for anoraks who couldn’t get published any other way." She desribes the blogosphere as "the verbal diarrhoea of the under-educated and the banal.".
It’s eerily familiar to me.
In 1996, Channel 4 made a program in their Without Walls series called "J’Accuse Technonerds", which included the following attack on the internet and it’s users from Janet Street-Porter:-
"every culture needs some kind of blotting paper to soak up the socially challenged."
And yet, there it is, in glorious DNS goodness: janetstreetporter.com.
Registered in 2000,4 years after her attack, which means that we should be seeing Janet Street-Porter blogging by 2010.
