Controllable Darkening Glass

The electromagnet/cutting saw/watch combo may not be with us, but at least one feature from a Bond film is becoming available. In one of the late era Roger Moore films (post-The Spy Who Loved Me), M darkened his office by pressing a switch which darkened the glass. No curtains or blinds, just darken the glass.

Velux have announced that they are making such glass now. It may not be dark enough to keep out prying eyes from inspecting microfilms, but it can certainly help to keep glare away on light days.
