I’ve promised a friend some DVD opinions, so figured they may as well be published…

• Batman Begins. Very good. Less cartoon-like than the rest, and Christian Bale is superb.
• Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy. Poor. I’m not crazy about the TV series, but it beat this.
• The Aviator. Loved it.
• Crash (not Cronenburg). OK. But then, I’m a big Don Cheadle fan.
• March of the Penguins. Great. The reason this documentary works is because the story works well as a dramatic narrative.
• Sideways. Good. But Merlot beats Pinot.
• Double Indemnity. A great timeless classic.
• Sin City. Interesting, but ultimately unsatisfying.
