Flash on Ubuntu Dapper
Posted on August 20th, 2006 by Tim Almond
Slight diversion into Flash.
This isn’t too difficult, but it didn’t go very smoothly. So, maybe this will help you.
1. Add the dapper-commercial repository. Go to System… Administration… Software Properties. Click the Add button then the Custom button.
2. You will be prompted for an APT command. Enter:-
deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu dapper-commercial
and click “Add Channel”.
3. Get a command prompt and enter:-
sudo apt-get install flashplugin-nonfree sudo update-flashplugin
You need to accept the license.
4. Exit Firefox and load it again.
I then had a problem with sound, so followed the instructions in http://www.macewan.org/2006/06/01/howto-firefox-flash-video-sound-on-ubuntu-linux-dapper/ which sorted that out.
