“Milton Keynes looks set to become the first British city to get a high-speed wireless network based on so-called Wimax technology.“
All good news, except that Milton Keynes isn’t actually a city. Well, unless you count the council printing “City of Milton Keynes” on their signs.
Perhaps they should have consulted http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/City_status_in_the_United_Kingdom#List_of_cities first.
Programme: Scooby Doo. Channel: BBC
In light of your recent intervention over Tom and Jerry, I’d like to complain about Scooby-Doo being shown on the BBC.
During the epilogue (after the "I’d’ve gotten away with it, too, if it weren’t for you meddling kids" moment), Scooby-Doo and Shaggy are frequently seen eating multidecked sandwiches that appear to […]
Source: FBI Upgrade that Wasn’t
Looks like the FBI has trashed a $170 million computer system. What I don’t understand from the article is that they’re saying that it’s going to have to be started again.
I’ve worked on some projects that have, during user testing, been found to have a serious design flaw, but none have […]
Installed some more things for Wordpress. In brief, simple. Installed phpmyadmin. No problems. Set up a db user and a new database. No problems. Edited the wp-admin file, and ran the install and login script. No problems.

There are lots of good albums […]
Amazon are entering the world of online video, and this looks like another clunker.
$10 for a full length movie that I can watch on a PC screen or portable device? That’s going to sell. One of the titles shown is The Matrix. You can buy The Matrix on DVD from Amazon.com for $9.88.
So, for $0.11c […]
Slight diversion into Flash.
This isn’t too difficult, but it didn’t go very smoothly. So, maybe this will help you.
1. Add the dapper-commercial repository. Go to System… Administration… Software Properties. Click the Add button then the Custom button.
2. You will be prompted for an APT command. Enter:-
deb http://archive.canonical.com/ubuntu dapper-commercial
and click “Add Channel”.
3. Get a […]
I’ve done the bulk of the install of Wordpress on my new Ubuntu Linux machine, and it’s going smoothly. Almost too smoothly.
The laptop is running solid as a rock with Ubuntu Dapper. Apache, Wordpress and MySQL are in place, and I just need to set up the MySQL users and connections.

The Register has an article on the "binary explosives" recently spoken about in Heathrow:-
Now for the fun part. Take your hydrogen peroxide, acetone, and sulfuric acid, measure them very carefully, and put them into drinks bottles for convenient smuggling onto a plane. It’s all right to mix the peroxide and acetone in one container, so […]
