All the way to the IOD

Sean Wilson and I took a trip to the IOD for one of their fortnightly social evenings. It’s Bristol, which means a trek, but conversations with Sean and Bend Sinister made the time pass nicely.
It was a really good evening spent talking to some really pleasant and interesting people about their businesses and plans, and gave me much food for thought about where to find clients.
As well as gaining future prospects, another important aspect of networking with business people is that you learn about the business sector that they’re involved in and what needs there are.

Do you actually get business from networking with the IOD? I was wondering about whether to join next year. Would you recommend it? As you can imagine, it’s very high tech in Cambridge.I’m not sure if I fancy networking with a load of men in grey suits either.
