What’s Wrong with Starbucks?

I was reading Andrew Collins’ Blog, where he says:-

"I’ve been boycotting Starbucks ever since reading and obeying No Logo, so I was glad to find one of the smaller multinational food conglomerates to drink a decaff latte in."

I really don’t understand what the problem is with Starbucks. I only have one problem with them - I don’t like their coffee. May be just personal taste, but it always tastes overroasted. I do like some of their cold drinks, though.

But there seems to be a political dislike of them, and I don’t understand why. As far as I understand it, Starbucks foster good relationships with their coffee suppliers, treat their staff better than most companies in the industry, have sustainability policies and have involved themselves in the organic and fairtrade movements. They don’t make products that pollute (at least, no more than Costa or Caffe Nero).

As a corporation, they seem to be poster boys for what the average Guardian reader complains about corporations. So, what’s the problem?
