I don’t tend to read the NME much. Mostly because I don’t think that most of the bands that they push forwards (Arctic Monkeys, The Strokes, Babyshambles, Killers, Kaiser Chiefs) have anything very interesting going on.
However, towards the top of their charts of album of the year (I went through the whole lot hoping for something interesting) are a band from São Paulo, Brazil called Cansei de Ser Sexy (or CSS). It’s fun, quirky music which is worth a listen.

Well the title sounds good, is it salsa type music? I would love to dance to this, I think.
Go and have a listen. If you’ve got flash enabled, it should start playing. There’s also a video of Alala around somewhere which is a great track.
It’s not salsa, though. If I had to give it a genre, it would be guitar pop.
