Predictions for 2007

First, some that I think are certs…

1. Brown will be PM. Johnson to be deputy. John Reid the contender.

2. There will be no general election.

3. Robbie Williams next album will be a disaster.

4. Windows Vista will not do very well, but the new version of Mac OSX will not be seen as a big improvement. Ubuntu Linux will continue to be the most popular flavour of Linux.

5. Cash-for-honours will continue, but Blair will not be "fingered".

6. Spider-Man 3 will be excellent.

7. The situation in Iraq will improve.

8. Olympic costs will rise.

9. Neither HD-DVD or Blu-Ray will win the next gen war, as people will be looking towards the new holographic storage systems.

10. The term "web 2.0" will become more commonly associated with the words "bubble" and "crash".

11. The membership of alternative parties (eg Green, UKIP) continues to grow, as does support for the BNP.

12. Cameron will not extend his lead, and may slip back slightly.

Some less certain things…

13. Ed Balls will take over as Chancellor from Brown. Prescott will be pensioned off to the Lords.

14. The new Nokia N95 will make GPS based services by phone a big deal - and consumers will switch from dedicated GPS units to phone-based units. Expect geoblogging to take off.

15. Segolene Royal will win in France.

16 The SNP will win in the Scottish elections.

17. Tesco or Boots starts offering drop-in medical diagnosis centres.
