I like mnemonic and memory tricks. Such as Many Volcanoes Erupt Mouldy Jam, Smells Under Noses Pong as a way to remember the order of the planets.

There are two hand tricks. One I was reminded of earlier, and one I’ve just discovered. The first is the 9 times table trick. To calculate 9×3, drop your third finger. You have 2 fingers before and 7 fingers after, so that’s 27. This works for any finger, so if mental arithmetic isn’t your bag, then this helps.
