Who hasn’t done it? Personally, I once taped over the early evening cop/flower drama Rosemary and Thyme with the Die-Hard-on-a-Boat action movie Under Siege. But I did argue my case. There was no label on the tape, and nothing had been mentioned, so I thought it was free to use. Thankfully, ITV3 bailed me out with a repeat.

But I assumed these people were professionals.

We no longer have the original tapes of our 9/11 coverage (for reasons of cock-up, not conspiracy). So if someone has got a recording of our output, I’d love to get hold of it. 

In news terms, that’s got to be like taping over your wedding video with Universal Soldier.
