Illin’
I’ve been stuck in bed today, nursing a nasty cold and trying to drink all the fluid I can. A number of lem-sips, lots of squash and a hot toddy. It probably counts as a crime in the Lot, but I had nothing else but a fine armagnac to mix into it.
So, I’ve had little else to do than to surf the net, or watch some TV. So, I watched a couple of favourite films - Take the Money and Run and North by Northwest.
I watched saturday night’s Dr Who, which is some of the best popular entertainment being made at the moment. I’m old enough to remember Jon Pertwee transforming into Tom Baker, and I believe that the writing of the new series is better than those old ones.
I also caught most of the new Harry Enfield/Paul Whitehouse series Ruddy Hell, it’s Harry and Paul! I don’t understand Paul Whitehouse. He can do things that put him in the category of "comedy genius", most notably Help and The Fast Show. This was rubbish. When you start attacking American tourists in London, or have to resort to announcing who you are impersonating, you’re just not trying. The Bill Gates/Steve Jobs sketch was ridiculous. Anyone who knows anything about these men know just how ludicrous a sketch it was. How, unlike Smashy and Nicey, it had no kernel of truth about it.
