Browser Stats

I can’t really use the stats on this site as a barometer because of how much I post on subjects like Ubuntu, which drives me to having something like 56% traffic from Firefox (and 25% from Linux).
However, what is interesting is how much of the Internet Explorer traffic is still from IE6. It’s about 60% to 40%. I would have expected most visitors by now to have upgraded to IE7. Despite my preference for Firefox and Opera, if you’re running IE, get IE7. It’s much better.
That’s assuming you can. If you’re on a company system you sometimes don’t get the choice. You can’t install or upgrade anything, even if you wanted to.
I suspect quite a few of the IE6 users are in that position.
That’s a very good point, Armin. I’ve worked in a few big places, and there’s quite a lead time and a whole prioritisation process for package testing and rollout.
