U2 Songs in Church
Posted on May 27th, 2007 by Tim Almond
I caught a BBC report about how U2 songs are now being used in Eucharist services. The congregation were singing Pride (in the Name of Love) from their album The Unforgettable Fire.
Yet it is specifically a song about not Jesus, but Martin Luther King. I was into U2, and the face on the back of the sleeve inspired me in my impressionable youth to learn more:-
Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride
I wonder what they do about that part.
