I was going to post something about Jane Galt’s customer service with Sony, but as I was reading through the comments, I noticed that there was someone saying "I told you so". So, a little digging around, and I found Jane’s post asking for advice about what laptop to buy. Here’s a brief summary of recommendations:-

Sony - a few.
HP/Compaq - a few more.
IBM/Lenovo - lots
Apple - lots.

So Jane went with Sony, despite more recommendations for IBM/Lenovo, and a comment of "avoid like the plague" about Sony. I don’t really have to mention rootkits and proprietary formats here, do I?

I don’t know a single person who has a workhorse laptop (ie developers, web designers, project managers) who uses a Sony. The designers and web developers like Apple, the coders and project managers like Lenovo, HP or Dell.
