Opera at the Wyvern

The Wyvern Theatre in Swindon has been closed for some time after asbestos was found, and is about to reopen.

The good news is that there’s some opera on. Normally, I’d expect something well known like La Boheme or Turandot, and often sung in English, but instead we’re getting the bold choice of Bellini’s I Capuleti e i Montecchi, sung in Italian (with surtitles). If the name sounds familiar, we’re talking Capulets and Montagues here, although according to Wikipedia, this is based not on Shakespeare, but the renaissance text that Romeo and Juliet was based on (although at least 2 of Shakespeare’s plays have been done).
