Yahoo Buys Zimbra

Some time ago, I took a look at Zimbra, which is an open source messaging and collaboration system. It competes in a similar space to Microsoft Exchange Server.
Yesterday, Yahoo bought Zimbra. This is good news, as it’s likely that Yahoo will be able to make some major investment in this.
I don’t know what their intentions are, but it seems like they’re heading in a similar direction to Google with their Google Apps Premier Edition. Perhaps we’ll see Yahoo launching a groupware solution that businesses can sign up to for a low cost subscription, instead of having to purchase and maintain their own solution.
