Kinky Boots

I recently bought a Sky+ box, which is the greatest piece of technology I’ve owned since I got broadband. It’s just so easy to use. I’m recording anything and everything

I watched the movie Kinky Boots last night, a film inspired by the story of WJ Brooks Ltd, a shoemaker in Earls Barton, Northamptonshire. I wouldn’t have normally bothered, but I was raised not far from Earls Barton, and not many films have Northampton in them. I’m also the proud owner of a couple of pairs of fine Northamptonshire brogues (Barkers of Earls Barton).

It was quite entertaining, sweet-natured fare, and reasonably entertaining. Quite a lot of scenes were shot in the town, and it seems that Trickers (serious shoes also) in Northampton were used for some of the factory scenes.

Apparantly, there were quite a few complaints about Northampton being portrayed as a sleepy market town, but to show it as a modern town would mess with the dramatic premise. My only complaint would be the accents which aren’t too well known except to those
