I’m a huge fan of the TV series Spaced, and the movie Shaun of the Dead. I should have caught it earlier, but I watched Hot Fuzz at the weekend.

If you liked Shaun, you’re going to love Hot Fuzz. It feels slicker, but it’s still got the sense that those others had of crazy things happening in suburban settings. It’s funny, referential and very well written.

In fact, it’s got all sorts of things going on. Like Shaun, there are some very subtle bits of dialogue, references to events that it’s unlikely many people are going to pick up on them. But if you miss them, it doesn’t ruin your enjoyment.  The DVD is also packed solid full of extras including outtakes, deleted scenes and a bunch of commentaries. OK, I’m interested in this stuff, so I dig it.
