Victoria Wood on Post Offices

From the BBC:-

Comedian Victoria Wood took part in a protest against the closure of her local branch in Highgate, north London.

She said: “It’s madness to close this post office that is bang in the middle of the village.

“It is brilliant and staffed by lovely people. I would chain myself to a pillar box if I thought it would do any good.”

In the “middle of the village”? The Village People are closer to being a village than Highgate is. Highgate is an urban area of London. It might once have been a village, but to call it that now is ridiculous. The next nearest Post Office is less than half a mile away, and there are 7 within a mile. Can’t Victoria Wood walk that far?

One Response to “Victoria Wood on Post Offices”

  1. What’s the point of chaining herself to a pillar box? The copper would just lift the chains up over the top and cart her off, he wouldn’t even need cutting equipment.
