Carly Fiorina for VP?

Carly to run with McCain?

McCain has said he’s not as strong on economics as he is on national security, so he needs accomplished business leaders, like Fiorina, advising him.

In case anyone reading has never heard of Carly Fiorina, she was CEO of HP for a few years. Her time there was so accomplished that […]

IE Testing…

I’m personally a Firefox and Opera fan, but the majority of the world is Internet Explorer.
When you install Internet Explorer 7 (IE7), you lose Internet Explorer 6 (IE6). You can’t have both installed. And when IE8 comes along, you won’t be able to run it alongside IE7.
For the vast majority of the world, this isn’t […]

Today’s Platitude…

Lots of goodness here.

It’s tough being Doris Lessing…

via CBC
In an interview with BBC Radio, Lessing, 88, said she has been hounded by the media since capturing the prestigious prize last October and that has made writing a novel almost impossible.
“All I do is give interviews and spend time being photographed,” she told the program Front Row. “I don’t have any energy anymore.”
I’m […]

Something Fishy…

A whole Guardian article of about 2400 words on how the world oceans are running out of fish, lots of things about how the EU are doing things globally, and not one mention of the disastrous EU fisheries policy.

Stuart Wheeler’s Lisbon Legislation

There’s now a paypal link on stuartwheeler.co.uk, so if you want to help out, it’s much easier than it was…

Platitude of the Day…

Platitude of the Day
Rather excellent website I stumbled across which translates the thoughts from BBC R4’s “Thought For The Day”. Here’s a cracker:-
You will doubtless recall Jesus’ famous words: “Blessed are those who recycle.” Claims that we’ve simply latched onto the environmental bandwagon decades after the real environmentalists, and that we’re now retrospectively re-interpreting our […]

Eurovision

Terry Wogan on Eurovision (via The Telegraph)
Bjorn Erichsen, director of Eurovision television, has claimed that Wogan’s commentary is a “problem” which undermines the contest’s reputation.
The Dane accused the BBC and the British public of failing to treat the extravaganza with the seriousness it “deserved”.

He said: “Terry Wogan is […]

Soul on Fire

It’s wonderful to see Spiritualized back, especially after lead singer/songwriter/all-round-genius Jason Pierce nearly died from pneumonia… twice.
I’m not sure that it’s up with favourites like Come Together or Do It All Over Again, but their strength is often in making great albums, so I’ll be probably take a punt on “Songs in A&E”

Ramsay: Ban non-Seasonal Food

via the BBC:
Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay says British restaurants should be fined if they serve fruit and vegetables which are not in season. He says it would cut carbon emissions as less food would be imported and also lead to improved standards of cooking.
I was considering going to one of his restaurants for a special […]
