Cake Icing

I’m not particularly good at drawing, and drawing with an icing nozzle is even more difficult. Tonight, I was fairly pleased with a “Happy Birthday” that I wrote on a cake, but then I saw this super-detailed Super Mario Wedding Cake.
Back to the software development…

The Byron Report

I’ve just read the Executive Summary of the Byron Report into video gaming and the internet (you can read the summary or full report here) and I have to say that it’s not too bad.
There’s plenty in the Executive Summary to make me think that this is someone who is approaching the subject with an […]

Manhunt 2: The BBFC loses

Good to see that the Video Appeals Committee has overturned the censorship of Manhunt 2.
Even better would be to just scrap the BBFC. They are a blight on freedom and creativity. You want to sell a DVD, something at the same level of Care Bears or Teletubbies? You have to pay them a fee of […]

Wii: Super Paper Mario

Another title I’ve recently received is the slighly odd-sounding Super Paper Mario.
This is a variation on the original Super Mario Brothers, with lots of adventure elements and has a nice twist: the ability to flip between 2d and 3d. So, as you’re trying to work out where to go next, sometimes you get stuck. The […]

Wii: Lego Star Wars

I’ve recently signed up with Tesco DVD Rental, who offer Wii games as part of their package (if anyone wants to sign up, please ask I’ll send you a referral).
One of the games I rented is Lego Star Wars. I had this on X-box, and it was quite fun, but I figured that on Wii […]

Scrabulous

I’ve gone off Facebook in recent months, but one of the things I’ve enjoyed about it is Scrabulous. I really like playing Scrabble, and it’s great to get to play some people online at it - particularly as it’s possible to make a move whenever I want.
It’s now reported that the makers of Scrabble have […]

Command and Conquer for Free

Those nice people at EA Games have decided to celebrate the 12th Anniversary of Command and Conquer by giving it away.
Point your browser here.
Word of warning - it does seem to be running slow on the servers at the moment.

Human Space Invaders

If you’re into gaming, you’ll love this. Even if you’re not, you may be amused.

Thanks to the Game Over project.

Jardinains 2

One of my favourite fun games of recent years was Jardinains, a new take on the breakout genre. Breakout with violent garden gnomes that bounce. It was everything that’s great about independent gaming - a huge amount of fun and personality.
So, it’s good to see that Tom’s back with Jardinains 2. It’s a lot like […]

Video Games

I read Boris Johnson’s piece on video games, and his theory that they are destroying levels of literature in young people. It’s nonsense, and Boris has no citations to any evidence that supports it. At least it’s Mostly Harmless compared to the "video games cause violence" statements thrown around by the likes of Hilary Clinton.
I’m […]
