Wordpress MU

Code for running multi-user blogs is freely available from Wordpress. This is the same code that runs the blogs on wordpress.com.
So, what this means is that if you are a company and want to have multiple blogs (so tom.companyname.com, dick.companyname.com and harry.companyname.com), you can do so, and they can be centrally administered (Wordpress has some […]

Wordpress Feedback Form

Anyone know a good one? One that can preferably be easily customized to allow the site manager to define what fields they require?
Or am I going to have to write one?

Wordpress 2.1

OK, I’ve got Wordpress 2.1 running. All nice and stable.
The new features that I like:-

Page as front page
Draft Page option
Nicer Image Uploads
AJAX autosave of drafts

I was toying with the idea of converting the blog to Django, but I just feel that’s going to take a lot of time, so I’ll stick with WP for now. […]

Wordpress as a CMS - revised

Just this week, I did a presentation to a number of geeks* on how to use Wordpress as a CMS.
I’m in the process of converting timalmond.com to Wordpress (was going to start today, but a desire for high-quality shirts and a cold got the better of me). I’ve just checked the specs of Wordpress 2.1, […]

An Eventful Few Days…

I’ve had an eventful couple of days this week.
I was driving to Windsor on Wednesday morning when my alternator decided to give up, just after J11 on the M4 and before I could get to the hard shoulder. Thankfully, a driver stopped and helped me move it off the road. The AA came and were […]

Apartment Carabeo

I’ve built a small website for a friend for his holiday apartment in Nerja in Southern Spain. It’s a 2-bed apartment and there’s still availabiility. The website address is http://www.carabeo.co.uk.
The site was built using Wordpress, generally considered more as a blogging platform, but it serves well as a site building platform, especially when there is […]

Wordpress Page Templates

I’m working on a project for someone in Wordpress which is entirely blogless and he asked me to include a chart of the availability of his apartment from Holiday Rentals, which meant embedding some code.
Of course, you can’t go typing code into the page content for good reason, but Wordpress has a very simple answer […]

Blogless Wordpress

When I decided to build the site I’m doing, I opted to use Wordpress. Before I started, I made sure that I could run Wordpress without any blog at all.
One of the problems is that by default, Wordpress opens up on the blog. Which is where a rather nice little plugin helps out. The Filosofo […]

Nice Weather Plugin

If you’ve ever wanted to display weather on your Wordpress site, then I have the plugin for you.
On the site Viper007Bond.com there is a Wordpress plugin called WeatherIcon that can fetch the weather information from the NOAA and present it in a web page for your users. You can customise it too. Deciding what to […]

Robert Buckland is now blogging!

Robert Buckland has restarted blogging at http://www.robertbuckland.co.uk.
To help Robert, I prepared a little video that demonstrates how to write blog entries and update pages in Wordpress. I don’t want to just post it here because of bandwidth, but if anyone wants a copy or has a piece of software for transcoding to .avi or .mov […]
