I’ve been using LoveFilm for a few weeks now with a mixture of Instant and DVD Rental. I’ve used the DVD service before, and it’s good, but the instant is a new thing to me, and works directly with my Samsung Smart TV. Pick a film from those available, click and play.

Technically speaking, I can’t fault it. I’ve seen the odd moment of pixellation, but once a film is fine. It allows you to stop and rejoin a film (and it remembers where you got to). You can also rate a movie directly.

In terms of selection, it’s pretty good. There’s a mixture of some new films, a few older films and some classics. In terms of when films appear, it seems to be just after satellite, which is fine. The most recent films are titles such as Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy, The Guard and Kick Ass.

At around £6/month (I’m paying £8 for a DVD as well), so far, I think it’s good value.
